2009 ASCO Tumor Boards: Ovarian Cancer

In November, Beth Karlan, MD, John Schorge, MD, Annekathryn Goodman, MD, and Andrew Li, MD, focused on a patient with advanced ovarian cancer. Specifically, the patient case covered the following learning topics:

  • The role of tumor biomarkers, diagnostic imaging, and physical symptoms in the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.
  • The benefits and rationale for cytoreductive or debulking surgery.
  • Treatment options for front line chemotherapy and the roles of intraperitoneal (IP) and intravenous (IV) chemotherapy.
  • Personalized patient management strategies for women with recurrent ovarian cancer.
