Metastatic Colorectal Cancer: ASCO Tumor Boards

This free case-based activity includes discussion of a 56 year old previously healthy construction worker who undergoes a routine colorectal cancer screening.  The colonoscopy reveals a mid transverse ulcerated lesion.  A biopsy revealed moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma.  Along with the patient case, there is a discussion board on ASCO Connection, where users can post comments/questions to each other and to the faculty.  At the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Discuss first line treatment options for metastatic colorectal cancer
  • Apply molecular markers to test in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer and application of results to treatment decisions
  • Evaluate trials comparing use of anti-EGFR versus anti-VEGF inhibitors in metastatic colorectal cancer
  • Examine the implications of BRAF mutations in colorectal cancer and potential research opportunities for such tumors
