This presentation reviews the findings from the JAMA Breast Cancer Lymph Node Study published in the February 9th, 2011 edition (JAMA 305(6):569-575) and discusses the key issues that are most relevant to practicing oncologists.

- Describe the impact of omission of axillary dissection after a positive sentinel node (SN) on local control and survival.
- Identify patients that are candidates for omission of axillary node dissection (AND) after the finding of a positive sentinel node and apply knowledge learned to provide the best treatment options available.
