Advanced Practice Providers Curricula

Advanced Practice Providers Curricula

ASCO’s Curricula for Advanced Practice Providers (ACAPP) provide educational resources to support lifelong learning in oncology. Two curricular packages are available:  The General Curriculum and 5 different Tumor-focused Curricula.  The General Curriculum is designed for those new to an oncology practice.  The Tumor-focused Curricula provide an excellent source of lifelong learning for those that have at least 1 or more years of experience in oncology.  For questions or further information about this Program, contact

ACAPP General Curriculum

The 2015 General Curriculum includes over 20 courses, all designed to help with the orientation of those new to an oncology practice. A Premium Option is also available.  The Premium Option adds the comprehensive resource, ASCO-SEP® 4th Edition, to the General Curriculum.  The ASCO-SEP eBook includes chapters on all major tumor areas and other key areas such as Symptom Management, Geriatric Oncology, Pharmacology, etc.  Self-assessment questions area also available with each chapter.  ASCO-SEP is a comprehensive resource that provides important background information for those seeking to orient themselves to oncology practice.  In addition to the eBook version, 2 additional ASCO-SEP products are included: the Online Question Bank (includes all questions from the book plus 100 bonus questions), and the ASCO Flashcards: ASCO-SEP course (provides a quick easy way to highlight content from the Key Points section in each chapter).  Click here for a complete course listing of the courses included in the General Curriculum.

ACAPP Tumor-focused Curricula

Packages in the Tumor-Focused Curricula are available in the following areas:  Breast Cancer, GI Cancers, GU Cancers, Lung Cancer, and Hematologic Malignancies.  These Curricula are designed for Practitioners having a little more experience in oncology and seeking a source of lifelong learning.  Click here for a complete course listing of the courses included in the Tumor-focused Curricula.

Course Certificates and Credit

Two Certificate types are available for use by Advanced Practice Providers: Certificate of Participation and Certificate of Completion.   A third Certificate type, an AAPA Category 1 Self-Assessment Certificate, is available for ASCO-SEP courses.  This Certificate type offers Certification Maintenance credit to PAs upon completion of the ASCO-SEP courses.

In the first step after course login, participants will be prompted to identify a Certificate type.  All courses offer a Certificate of Completion to document participation.  For those courses offering CE credit, Advanced Practice Providers should use the Certificate of Participation for submission to the appropriate CE accrediting body.   In order to request any of the available Certificates, the course evaluation must first be completed.  Participants will be prompted for these components within the course.
