2009 ASCO Tumor Boards: Ovarian Cancer

 

From October 27th to November 30th, Beth Karlan, MD, and John Schorge, MD, will focus on a patient with advanced ovarian cancer. Specifically, the patient case covers the following learning objectives:

  • Determine the role of tumor biomarkers, diagnostic imaging, and physical symptoms in the diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer.
  • Assess the benefits and rationale for cytoreductive or debulking surgery.
  • Evaluate treatment options for front line chemotherapy and address the roles of intraperitoneal (IP) versus intravenous (IV) chemotherapy.
  • Establish and employ a personalized patient management strategies for women with recurrent ovarian cancer.

While reviewing the patient case, participants are also invited to join the discussion forum. Users can pose questions to the faculty and to one another. Access to the case and forum are free for 2009, but you will need an ASCO.org account to participate - ASCO members will already have an account; non-ASCO members can create an ASCO.org guest account instead.
