Maintenance of Certification: All physicians holding time-limited certificates issued by one of the 24 Member Boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) must demonstrate life-long learning and enhancement of knowledge by successfully completing the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program every 6-10 years.
In collaboration with the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), an ABMS Member Board, ASCO continues to develop a series of online, interactive self-assessment modules to assist physicians in the MOC process. Each module consists of 25-30 multiple-choice questions with educational links to content from various sources. The educational objectives for each module incorporate two necessary MOC requirements that aim to improve skills in translating knowledge into clinical practice and applying strategies to successfully handle the topic presented. Upon successful completion, results for each module can be submitted directly to ABIM for 10 points in Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment.
