ASCO’s Clinical Practice Guidelines are evidence-based and provide recommendations for cancer care. They are developed by Expert Panels composed of medical and surgical oncologists, radiologists, patient advocates, methodologists, and other specialists. In addition, ASCO provides Provisional Clinical Opinions, Systematic Reviews, and Clinical Evidence Reviews. ASCO also endorses evidence-based guidelines developed by others. All are based on comprehensive searches in the peer-reviewed medical literature.
ASCO’s Guideline Toolbox, a set of Clinical Tools and Resources based on and provided with each Guideline, includes an Executive Summary, summary slides, summary tables, a patient guide, and other clinical tools. These tools may include Order and Flow Sheets, Algorithms, and/or Clinician-Patient Decision Aids and are designed for day-to-day use in the clinic. ASCO’s guideline dissemination efforts are expanding to help practices implement recommendations and improve cancer care.
All Guidelines, other clinical guidance publications, and guideline toolboxes are available free of charge at ASCO.org in the Guidelines and Clinical Tools sections.
ASCO also offers the ASCO Clinical Guidelines Anthology: Abridged Guidelines and Related Clinical Tools from Journal of Oncology Practice.
