This module was designed to focus upon ASCO’s “2006 Update of the Breast Cancer Follow-up & Management in the Adjuvant Setting” guideline and supporting resources. The primary goal of this module is to facilitate awareness and utilization of the guideline recommendations. Secondarily, this module also seeks to highlight the accompanying resource tools. Participation in this module will ultimately serve to support and encourage best practices in patient care.

Maintenance of Certification: Cancer Prevention |
|
The ASCO Cancer Prevention Module consists of 30 multiple-choice questions which include patient case information, educational links to ASCO’s Cancer Prevention Curriculum and PubMed and answer rationales. This activity is a tool for self-assessment of medical knowledge as it relates to cancer prevention. After successful completion of this activity, American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) diplomates are eligible to receive 10 points toward the required 20 in self-evaluation of medical knowledge. Participants can also earn a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. |

Medical Responses to Radiological and Nuclear Events |

This module focuses on medical response activities that will be necessary just after a radiological or nuclear event is detected. In the case of a radiological or nuclear disaster, there will be a critical need for oncology medical professionals to assist in the care response that could involve very large numbers of patients. This module will introduce you to the topic of medical responses to such mass casualty events and help you become an effective medical response planner. |

That’s why ASCO now offers the 2009 ASCO Annual Meeting eTracks, an easy way to keep up with the highlights from the meeting and how they can be incorporated into your treatment plans. The 2009 ASCO Annual Meeting eTracks are 6 separate modules that cover clinical research that relates to practice as well as emerging science abstracts presented at the Annual Meeting. The tracks in this series include breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, and lung cancers, plus hematologic malignancies. |

Cancer Pain |
|
One third of cancer patients will experience pain during their treatment and an even greater number of patients with advanced cancer will experience pain. It is important for oncologists to not only understand the etiology of cancer pain, but know how to manage it appropriately. In this module, participants will explore four practical case scenarios that address first and second line opioid therapies, as well as neuropathic and interventional pain management. Drs. Michael Fisch and Judith Paice discuss the cases and share their personal thoughts on effective management strategies. |

Writing Good Test Questions |
|
Writing high-quality test items is not an easy task and can often be quite demanding. This module is designed to reduce the stress surrounding the process of writing good questions and enhance your question writing skills. Participants will review the basic components and development process of creating effective multiple choice questions and will use knowledge gained to critique a number of sample questions. A brief post-assessment provides the opportunity to gauge understanding and ability to apply principles learned. |
